How We Choose Partner Brands

Not every brand that offers an affiliate programme makes it onto this page. We apply a straightforward set of criteria before listing any product or service:

Ingredient and quality transparency. For food and supplements, we look for brands that publish full ingredient lists, source clearly, and avoid excessive fillers, artificial preservatives, or vague marketing language. If a brand cannot explain what is in its product and where the ingredients come from, it does not make the list.

Real value for owners. We look at what the product actually costs relative to alternatives and whether the price is justified by quality, convenience, or coverage. A premium price is fine if the product genuinely delivers — but we will not list a brand that charges three times the market rate for a comparable product just because they have a generous affiliate programme.

Customer service and reputation. We check independent review platforms, return policies, and how the brand handles complaints. Brands with a pattern of poor customer service, misleading advertising, or difficult cancellation processes are excluded regardless of product quality.

What About Brands Not Listed Here?

This page is not an exhaustive directory of every pet brand we think is good. It is a curated selection of brands we have reviewed and can stand behind, limited to companies that currently have an active partnership with PetCost. There are many excellent pet brands we have not listed here simply because we do not have a commercial relationship with them. The absence of a brand from this page is not a negative judgment — it usually just means we have not partnered with them yet. How Affiliate Links Work

When you click a link on this page and make a purchase, the brand pays PetCost a small referral commission. This happens at no extra cost to you — the price you pay is the same whether you arrive at the brand's site through our link or by navigating there directly. These commissions are how we fund the site and keep all of our tools, breed data, and guides free to use. They never influence which brands we list, how we rank them, or the cost data and editorial content elsewhere on the site. Our cost calculation methodology is entirely independent of our commercial partnerships.

We work with several affiliate networks and direct brand programmes including AWIN, Amazon Associates, and Impact.com. Each network handles tracking differently, but the principle is the same: a cookie records that you came from PetCost, and if you make a purchase within the attribution window (usually 30 days), the brand pays us a percentage of the sale. You can clear your cookies at any time, and we encourage you to compare prices across retailers before buying — the best deal for you is always more important to us than the commission.
