Our Commitment to Accuracy
PetCost-Calculator exists to help future and current pet owners make informed financial decisions. We take data accuracy seriously — every breed estimate is built from veterinary fee surveys, insurance industry reports, and real retail pricing data, then reviewed and updated on a rolling basis. When a user reports a figure that is out of date or inaccurate for their region, we treat it as a priority fix. Your feedback directly makes the site better for every visitor who comes after you, and we genuinely appreciate the time it takes to send a correction.
We cover 290+ dog and cat breeds with cost estimates that break down into individual categories including food, veterinary care, insurance, grooming, training, boarding, toys, and supplies. The US national average is the baseline, and regional cost adjustments are already applied for the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Western Europe. If you have firsthand experience with pet costs in a region we do not yet cover well, your input is especially valuable.
We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable cost data or breed recommendations. Our editorial content and cost calculations are entirely independent of our affiliate partnerships. You can read more about how we separate editorial and commercial interests on our about page.
